Spiritual Formation, Faith

Dr. Harry Sherrer
Spiritual Formation, Faith
Luke 24:44-53

We are preparing for the celebration of Pentecost and the presence of
the Holy Spirit. Last Sunday we looked at our spiritual
formation beginning with identity. Today our focus is on faith.
Jesus ascended to help his disciples understand where he is and what
was coming. Jesus' presence created a lot of different responses
among the people. Some were fans of the miracles and sensational
signs Jesus did. Others thought his presence and approval was to be
sought for personal gain. It was important for Jesus to leave to
avoid having the Kingdom message and power from being highjacked by
people guided by their own desires. Even now we have people gaining
notoriety by assuming to know when Jesus will return. Jesus had lots
and lots of fans, but very few followers. His desire is to call more
followers who are led in power and submitted in service to God. He
left to help us live by faith and not by sight. He empowers you to be
his witness and enjoy a new vocation in his kingdom. Will you let
Christ live in you and work through you?
